This statement gave birth to " The Bike Detail ". At 48 years old  Deborah enrolled in the bicycle class  I taught at  the community college. She had never learned to ride a bike but made a resolution to  herself   before turning 50 she would overcome her fear and learn  how to ride.

Before  paying and registering for the class she had two questions.  If I enroll in this class will I really learn to ride a bike?  and.. If I am the oldest student in the class will you promise to  never let me feel embarrassed while you teach me to ride? I answered. Deborah, learning to ride a bike requires three things. Two wheels, two legs a one great smile. All you have to do is bring the smile & legs, I'll bring the bike.

At the end of the  course, not only could Deborah ride. She was able to disassemble, troubleshoot and build an entire bike. Her critique comment on the course evaluation form summed it up just fine. " For the first time in my life I finally have mastery over a piece of machinery"

Upon reading her comment I said , Deborah, I have a question for you. When did that mastery begin? She said.... when we learned to clean our bikes. And as they say the rest is history. So from that point I realized the missing link for most cyclists ......was learning how and about cleaning their bikes.
